Diabetes in Men's Health Research Lab
Welcome to the Diabetes in Men's Health (DīMH) Research Lab at the University of Michigan's Curtis Center for Health Equity Intervention Research, Training and Innovation. Dr. Jaclynn Hawkins, Assistant Professor at University of Michigan School of Social Work and Director of the Curtis Center, has established the Diabetes in Men’s Health Lab (DīMH Lab) to support her multiple projects. The DīMH develops, adapts, and implements culturally tailored approaches to promote and sustain Type 2 diabetes self-management over time. Our current target population is Black men with Type 2 diabetes. We utilize evidence-based intervention programs that include virtual diabetes self-management education, peer-led diabetes self-management support, and virtually delivered cognitive behavioral therapy and exercise (just to name a few), to support these men to improve their diabetes self-management behaviors.
